How to Apply
The Snelling Center is now recruiting candidates for the next Vermont School Leadership Project Class. The VSLP is Vermont’s only leadership development opportunity that deeply examines “whole systems” thinking and change management in public schools. The Project’s target audience includes, but is not exclusive to, superintendents, principals, curriculum and special education directors, as well as other education professionals who have proven leadership abilities and seriously aspire to leadership roles.
The program is rigorous and demands a significant commitment of time,* plus a deep commitment to personal growth and development, and to making a difference in education in Vermont. The Snelling Center is seeking candidates who have the potential to transform organizations. Candidates must see others as assets, value collaboration, and be willing to share leadership. They should be life-long learners and seek that for others. They must question; themselves, others and systems. Candidates will have a strong sense of integrity and ethics, and be “social architects,” able to build consensus and political support. The personal and professional development that the program facilitates requires a combination of eagerness for results and patience with the process.
These are the qualities The Snelling Center staff will be looking for as we put together the next class of up to 26 Associates for the Vermont School Leadership Project. If you are a potential candidate, or you have a recommendation for one, please contact Susan McCormack, Director of Leadership Development at The Snelling Center.
*The VSLP Class of 2008 program consists of 15 and a half seminar days between July ‘07 and November ‘08, plus extensive “homework” through the development and implementation of a systems-change project by each Associate.
