Vermont Leadership Institute
"Our pride in Vermont and its history is one of our strengths. . . It is an exceptional quality which encourages Vermonters to seek to do more than might otherwise seem possible." - Governor Richard A. Snelling

Created by the Snelling Center for Government in 1995, the Vermont Leadership Institute ("VLI") is the state's premier leadership development program.
- VLI is an intensive program, consisting of eight overnight sessions, totaling eighteen seminar days between September and June. Each session is held in a different region of the state to convey a sense of Vermont's rich historic, geographic, and cultural diversity.
- VLI seeks to stimulate citizen enthusiasm for and participation in public service, to enable Vermonters to take thoughtful action within the public sector, and to improve the capacity of our citizens to work together and bring about positive change.
- VLI recruits Vermont's best and brightest from the private, public, and non-profit sectors, creating lasting networks to benefit Vermont.
- VLI engages outstanding faculty from across the state and throughout the nation.
- VLI provides associates with the information, the tools, and the inspiration to make greater contributions to their organization, their profession, and to Vermont.
