The Vermont Debate and Forensics League’s
Fourth Public Forum Debate State Championship
at the State House in Montpelier

RESOLVED: The term of office for Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Vermont should be four years.

Public Forum Debate in Vermont is now four years old. It has replaced policy debate and offers several advantages. A debate round is shorter in length, it encourages argumentation on the issues, and it requires the debaters to be persuasive in their delivery. To date, eleven high schools have created two person teams and some twenty teams are expected at the state championship tournament.

The Vermont Debate and Forensics League has chosen this topic specifically for Vermont and is working with the Snelling Center for Government to provide resources to the debaters. The day-long event will include three preliminary rounds followed by a semi-final round and championship round in the afternoon. The forum is open to the public.
