New Legislator Orientation

Charlie Smith addressing the group

Thirty-two newly elected representatives and three elected senators recently participated in a New Member Orientation offered by the Vermont Legislative Joint Fiscal Office, The Legislative Council, and the Snelling Center for Government.

The Orientation program is designed to provide information on the legislature, its budget process, its procedures, caucuses and committees, as well as its interaction with other branches of state government, the media and its constituents. Just as important, the program is designed to provide an opportunity for new members to meet one another, as well as veteran legislators and the staff members who serve the legislators.

We congratulate our newly elected representatives on being chosen to serve in the General Assembly, and are thankful for their willingness to serve the state of Vermont. We wish them the best as they begin what is certain to be a challenging and rewarding experience.
