Iowa

Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is the designated state office with this specific mission.  It is composed of State Historical Society of Iowa and the Iowa Arts Council. 
•  Imagine Iowa 2010 is a statewide cultural plan for the arts, history, sciences and humanities which includes development of Cultural Caucuses. These are a sequence of regional caucuses where Iowans discuss the cultural issues of the day to effecting quality of life. Elected regional delegates are selected to join a statewide forum, celebration and rally.
•  Holding statewide workshops in whichParticipants will learn how to incorporate historic preservation, arts, and business in a variety of ways to improve economic development, strengthen cultural & tourist attractions, develop cultural & entertainment districts  

Rhode Island

State Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission
•  Produces both Brochures and Online Visitor’s Guides.
•  Administers Tax Credits and Grants for preservation
•  Oversees the state “Heritage Festival”
•  Holds heritage conferences
•   “Free” day – special no admission to historic sites on irregular basis

Rhode Island Historical Society(Privately Endowed)

•  Sponsors tours
•  Holds teacher workshops to educate the educators
•  Establishes local community partnerships
•  Mostly concentrated in-state
